Clindamycin (klin-da-MYE-sin) belongs to the family of medicines called antibiotics. Topical clindamycin is used to help control acne. It may be used alone or with one or more other medicines that are used on the skin or taken by mouth for acne. Topical clindamycin may also be used for other problems as determined by your doctor.

Cleocin-T Gel Uses
Cleocin T is used to treat acne vulgaris.
How Taken Cleocin-T Gel
Clindamycin skin products are for external use only. Wash hands before and after use. Wash affected area and gently pat dry. Apply a thin layer of the gel or solution to the affected area as often as prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional. Do not use skin products near the eyes, nose, or mouth. It is important to use this medicine for the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional, even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop using except on your prescriber's advice.
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Cleocin-T Gel Warnings/Precautions
It is not known whether clindamycin is excreted in human milk following use of Cleocin T. However, orally and parenterally administered clindamycin has been reported to appear in breast milk.
Cleocin-T Gel Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Cleocin-T Gel Possible Side Effects
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
• contact dermatitis (rash, itching, swelling, redness)
Other serious side effects are unlikely from the use of skin products, but include:
• diarrhea that is watery or severe
• pain on swallowing
• stomach pain or cramps
• unusual bleeding or bruising
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
• dry skin
• nausea, vomiting
Cleocin-T Gel Storage
Do not use pledget if the seal is broken. Discard after single use. Keep all liquid dosage forms in containers tightly closed out of the reach of children.
Cleocin-T Gel Overdose
Topically applied Cleocin T can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects. Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
